A closer look
Free, and here's why
SonicViz will be free when it launches on the App Store. I can't calibrate it, and I can't make sure it works on every iPhone and iPad, so I can't honestly take money for it. Use it if you want, but don't blame me if you think a free app on your phone is professional equipment. It isn't a certified sound level meter, and its readings are estimates from your device's microphone. Free doesn't mean you're the product here: there's no account, no internet access, no analytics, no ads and no third-party SDKs. The microphone is the only permission it asks for, and the audio it hears is analyzed on the spot and never leaves your device unless you export it yourself.
